Green Grass Physical Therapy is owned and operated by Soundus ‘Sue’ Machtley, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC. Soundus is a board-certified Orthopedic Specialist and Certified Manual Physical Therapist who has worked in the field of physical therapy since 2002. She earned her doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine with high honors. In 2008, she earned her Manual Therapy Certification (MTC), a prestigious achievement earned by fewer than 2000 Physical Therapists worldwide! While many therapists have exposure to manual therapy, few have taken the comprehensive amount of advanced coursework and demonstrated the expertise required to become certified. In 2010, Soundus began working towards her Orthopedic Specialist Certification. She was officially certified by the American Physical Therapy Association as an Orthopedic Specialist in June 2011. While she has received advanced training in spine rehabilitation, she enjoys treating all areas of orthopedics.
Education is something highly valued by Soundus. She was a teacher following her undergraduate coursework at the University of Southern California. She currently teaches continuing education to health care professionals throughout the country and serves as adjunct faculty at the Seattle Institute for Oriental Medicine. Soundus incorporates a fair amount of teaching during her treatment sessions to empower patients to be more aware of how their body moves. Soundus’s treatment approach encompasses manual physical therapy, custom therapeutic exercise, hands on neuromuscular re-education for better motor control and patient education to change how one moves and improve overall function.
Soundus has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2004.
